Close links between Madagascar and Mayotte in all areas.

The island of Mayotte sets up its cooperation office in Antananarivo, now open to the public, and useful to operators.

Inaugurated on Thursday 20 February in Ambatomena in the French Embassy. This office is operational with the presence of an advisor.

French department, Mayotte forges centuries-old ties with Madagascar in terms of maritime trade and trade. "It is the cost of freight and air transport that remains a problem", says Mohamed Siddi, Vice-President of the Mayotte County Council, in charge of cooperation.

Several economic operators from Madagascar in all fields came to the opening of the Mahorais cooperation office. "Year Malagasy, 2020 will be rich in Mayotte in events referring to Madagascar. From the Big Island came several graduates of Mayotte including the current chairman of the county council", says Mohamed Siddi.

Indeed, twelve thousand inhabitants out of two hundred and fifty thousand are Malagasy in Mayotte. And most of the Mahorais have Malagasy ancestry.

Every day, Mahajanga port, dhows and ships depart for Mayotte. On board, there are goods and people, Reflecting, There, the persistence of intense economic exchanges between two island peoples.

"Mayotte does not export anything to Madagascar, on the other hand, because the products are not enough to feed the local population. But several Malagasys come to train at the most important agricultural high school on the island and among them, are those who continue their studies in France and shine there", according to Mohamed Siddi.

The Mahorese community in Madagascar remains present in education, if we refer to mahorese students in training in Madagascar.

The cooperation between Mayotte and the four regions of Madagascar has so far affected the four sectors. These are the health sectors, Agriculture, training, but also rural electrification. Export to Mayotte benefits many Malagasy operators. And the opening of a cooperation office, in the heart of the capital, will facilitate the necessary paperwork and administrative procedures.
