Mahajanga tourism operators gathered at Sôma Beach Tourist Village
Several thousand people earn their income from the presence of tourists in the Boeny region.. Following ministerial decisions on the reopening of Madagascar's borders, Mahajanga tourism operators gathered at Sôma Beach Tourist Village. They demand the reopening of the Mayotte – Mahajanga lines, Meeting – Mahajanga and Comoros – Mahajanga, and road renovation (RN4 and RN6) which connects Mahajanga to Antananarivo and Mahajanga to Antsiranana (Diego).
Save Tourism – Save the economy
Since March 2020 and the closing of the sky, hotels, restaurants, guides and all other tourism operators are in great distress.
Many establishments have already closed, depriving entire families of employment and therefore of resources… for many the situation is critical, even desperate...
Mahajanga tourism operators gathered
Mahajanga tourism operators gathered this Tuesday 22 March to 16 hours. They were more than 250 people to gather on the pontoon of Sôma Beach, the large tourist beach of Mahajanga.
A gathering in the form of a symbol, because this range is empty whereas normally, vacationers are well present.
It is in the form of a spontaneous gathering that hoteliers, restaurateurs, nautical operators, guides, …met with their employees to demand the reopening of direct flights to Mahajanga and the renovation of the roads.
The reopening of the sky being awaited with such impatience.
Sanitary conditions
His side, the Malagasy government explains that the protocol put in place in Antananarivo should also apply in the provinces, so that they can once again welcome international flights. It is at- say that tourists will have to carry out a PCR test on arrival, they will be picked up by an approved taxi at the airport exit, who will then take them to an equally approved hotel to await receipt of the PCR test results. If it turned out to be positive, tourists would then be directed to a dedicated hotel to complete their quarantine.
For this purpose, Mahajanga is already ready to follow the necessary procedures to welcome tourists.
Rehabilitate the RN4 and the RN6
Mahajanga tourism operators also requested urgent road renovation (the RN4 and the RN6).
The state of the RN4 which connects Tana and Mahajanga has largely deteriorated thanks to the cyclones at the start of the year, further isolating the coastal town from the rest of the country and depriving it of essential tourist revenue., not to mention the RN6, reliant Diego Suarez Antsiranana in Mahajanga.
Hoping that the authorities hear the cries of alarm from Mahajanga tourist operators, Boeny region. We are all crossing our fingers that we will be able to welcome you again soon, for an unforgettable vacation in this magnificent city.
