CEOI dinner-meetings at Coco Lodge Majunga : Majunga Entrepreneurs are concerned about the development of the region.

Last night, Friday, 06 March at Coco Lodge Majunga, held a dinner-meeting organized by the Indian Ocean Entrepreneurs' Crossroads or CEOI. Local authorities and several executive entrepreneurs and business leaders from the various sectors of activity in the Boeny region were present with the President of CEOI, Mr Xavier Desplanques, and the administrator in the CEOI office in charge of the West Coast of Madagascar, Mr Eric Petitjean. Mr Karim Ikbalhoussen, Honorary Consul of France and Mr Marcelin, Representative of the Head of Region, were also present. They have all demonstrated their common devotion to developing the Boeny region.

Development concerns

In their speeches, entrepreneurs have demonstrated their desire to develop the Boeny region. Health, Security, education, transport are essential pillars for the economic development of this region. Each has demonstrated their opinions and suggestions.

Health and development

Health is at the heart of the fight against poverty. Fragile and inequitable health systems are a major obstacle. They are particularly so when faced with a shortage of human resources or lack of sustainable financing.

In the Boeny region, in addition to the poor financial situation, traditional medicine occupies a large place and is wrongly applied. Although some traditional drugs may be effective in curing certain diseases, they're not as safe. Yet, many choose to treat themselves traditionally, rather than confiding in science. These are the major problems that need to be addressed to improve the health situation in Mahajanga, as explained by Dr. Gérard of the Mahajanga Health Priority Clinic at this dinner-meetings. Awareness is therefore needed.

Thus, the country must place health at the heart of its economic and development policies. On the other hand, Social initiatives, political and economic, if they make health systems a priority, can improve their functioning.

Transportation and accessibility

Majunga is currently landlocked. There is not enough air traffic, the port is no longer big enough and the national road is almost impassable. However, the city has the privilege of having a dynamic mayor, Visionary, worker and who has very good plans. On the other hand, Mr Mokhtar Salim Andriantomanga was even present at another CEOI dinner-meeting held in Antananarivo on Thursday 05 March 2020. And this dinner had the theme "economic development assistance from international donors in Madagascar".

Education

"Give a man a fish, and he'll have to eat for a day ; teach a man to fish, and he'll have to eat for the rest of his life.

Education plays a crucial role in economic development. Indeed, young people represent the future of the country. Mr. Charles Gassot of theSchool of the World, a man dedicated to improving the educational situation of children in Madagascar, clearly demonstrated this. And he's working on it with his team., whose priority is to help Malagasy children build a better life. He said the new Minister of Education shares the same objective. Education and training, water and sanitation, health, care and awareness, agriculture and reforestation, village life and economy are the focus of its actions in Madagascar.

Security in Majunga

Majunga is reputed to be the most secure city in Madagascar, it lives up to that reputation. And it is one of its strengths that promote its development. Compared to other cities on the big island, Majunga is actually the most secure and the quietest. The authorities are making great efforts to maintain this security stability. Troops patrol several parts of the city every night, Commissioner Jimmy Clarin confirmed.
