Tourism, a key to the world sector

Over the last sixty years, Tourism has continued to grow and diversify, becoming one of the most important economic sectors and fastest-growing in the world.

Between 1950 and 2015, Global tourist arrivals increased from 25 million to 1300 million per year (52 times greater !!). During this same period, the revenue from the global tourism sector flew, from 2 US $ billion 1 260 billion (630 times greater !!). The tourism sector accounts today for 10% of GDP (Gross domestic product) global, and nearly one out of 10 jobs.

Of according to estimates of the World Tourism Organization, international tourist arrivals expected to increase 3% per year to reach 1,8 billion here 2030. This growth has made tourism more accessible, Thanks to the recognition of the right to leave paid in the Universal Declaration of human rights, improving the rights of labour in many countries and the global growth of the class average. The emergence of new technologies related to tourism as well as the reduction of the transport costs (particularly air transport) also contributed to the growth of international travel. This sector showed a remarkable resilience in recent years, showing a steady growth despite the economic crisis and natural disasters.

Like any sector of activity, Tourism has a significant impact on the economy, society and the environment in the countries concerned. On the other hand, Tourism, When it is managed in a sustainable way, may become a factor favourable to the protection of the environment, the appreciation of the cultures and understanding between peoples.

The celebration of this day will be held in Budapest (Hungary). Tourism has strong growth in this country, with the continued support of the Government and a commitment to the digital future. Other celebrations will be held around the world.

The official celebration will also be the opportunity to announce the semi-finalists of the first contest of the UNWTO tourism start-up. This competition was launched by the UNWTO and Globalia to give visibility to the promising start-up of innovative ideas to revolutionize the way we travel and tourism experience.

Madagascar, the Tourism Ministry has chosen the Region North of Madagascar.

Diego Suarez which is one of the lighthouses to tourists destinations after the Southern Region. Antsiranana is more the third port in Madagascar after Toamasina and Mahajanga. As part of the celebration of this day, the Region North of Madagascar will host this year "international fair of Diego Suarez", the 27, 28 and 29 October 2017 next. The meeting will be the guest of honour of this international event.

At Nosy Be, the 25th edition of the Donia festival will be held from 26 to the 30 September. Several international artists are expected for this edition. The Donia is an opportunity to discover new local talent, artists from the neighbouring countries, and enjoy the largest sizes of the country. This year, Therefore, and as to the usual, the festivities will start with a great Carnival which will tour the city. The opportunity for the participants to stand out to attract attention, so to win a trophy. This year, the Cofestin will bring artists from neighboring islands : Maurice, Seychelles, The meeting, ... but also of countries like Gabon Africa or South Africa. For the moment, no name has yet been unveiled. However, one thing remains sure, the 25e Edition of the festival will be very festive !

At Majunga, as part of the celebration of the world day of tourism, the Ministry of tourism transport and meteorology - MTTM- has already awarded in 2015 the certificate of fitness for the job of the guides with 27 guides. In addition, aware of the efforts made by tour operators for the promotion of tourism in Mahajanga, the MTTM also challenged 2015 , as a recognition of the certificates to the 10 pioneers of the Boeny region tourism. These last have spent most of 20 years in the field of hospitality, restoration, hotel school or they have worked as a tourist guide. These pioneers have received their certificate instead of the edge of Mahajanga during the closing ceremony of the celebration of the JMM, the JGM and WTD.
