Tourism and rural development
“Tourism and rural development” is the theme of World Tourism Day 2020.
Celebrated every 27 September since 1980, 40th anniversary comes as tourism faces the biggest challenge in its history.
The importance of tourism as an economic sector – with an unrivalled value chain and a deep social footprint – has become even more evident in recent months.
« Le tourisme a démontré tenir un rôle vital pour de nombreuses collectivités rurales. However, it is not yet fully expressed in all its strength. The sector is not only a major provider of jobs, especially for women and young people. It is also a vehicle for territorial cohesion and socio-economic inclusion for the most vulnerable regions ». These are the statements from the UNWTO Secretary General, Zurab Pololikashvili.

As a member of the United Nations family, l’OMT est heureuse de voir comment la Journée mondiale du tourisme contribue également au 75e anniversaire des Nations Unies This year. JMT and UN75 meet, so that tourism comes back stronger and leaves no one behind, starting better, by becoming more sustainable and offering more innovative solutions to the greatest challenges of our time.
The 27 September is World Tourism Day, a moment to celebrate the ability of tourism to promote meaningful exchanges between people around the world, for fun, to remember that travel helps us all to rejuvenate ourselves and to make a significant improvement by supporting livelihoods and protecting our heritage.
Our case in Coco Lodge Majunga
Our sector has suffered heavily from the crisis, but that won't stop us from, as you'll see on this link.
It's time for us to wake up, for the resumption of tourism, for solidarity tourism, responsible, safe and secure.
We're ready
For our case at Coco Lodge Majunga, we are already ready to welcome our customers safely. We keep the health and safety of all people first. We take seriously all necessary measures against the covid-19 :
- Mandatory masks in common areas,
- Regular disinfectant gel and temperature intake,
- Respect for social distance,
- Regular disinfections of spaces and materials after each customer pass, ... We even disinfect the air with air purifiers based on essential oils
- And we have a containment policy with maintenance of pay for all staff.

During these periods, 05 last months of confinement, we took the opportunity to renovate our rooms and our premises.
We offer double rooms, twin, Awards, family families and a suite, all air-conditioned and comfortable.
To our Gourmet restaurant, you're sure to find a French gourmet cuisine, Malagasy and Lebanese, full of flavors, to our spacious and open terrace on the edge of the swimming pool.
We have put in place a new map, with a wide variety of choices.
- Every Friday night, a gourmet dinner in soft music,
- Then, every morning from 6 hours 30, a country breakfast, continental and/or American
- Every day from 11 hours 30, except Sunday lunch, a menu of the day,
- And we continue to offer the delivery service.
Reminder, we're also Tour operator. We organize tours to discover this beautiful region that is the Boeny.
We all know that Majunga is one of the best destinations in Madagascar, with its beaches, its caves, his tsingys, its national parks, its unique and varied biodiversity, its climate, its atmosphere and pace of life.
And we also organize Events like workshops, seminars, themed dinner/lunch or wedding, with our two conference rooms.
