Scattered Islands : Restitution or co-management ?

During The televised address of President Andry Rajoelina in France 24 the 11 may, he spoke cautiously about the scattered islands.

The return of these islands to Madagascar before the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the country's independence on 26 June was desired, but the health crisis seems to have compromised this objective.

He indicated that the second meeting of the Joint Committee was scheduled for the end of March, but it was "postponed" because of the coronavirus. The first meeting of this committee has already taken place in Madagascar in November 2019. Is it a coincidence or a deliberate retort ?

A question that many political actors, observers and ordinary citizens asked themselves to read a publication of the French Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition yesterday. If not a response, at least it looks like it.

This publication is about a "public consultation", draft decree "regarding the creation of the National Nature Reserve of the Glorious Archipelago".

The call for the opinion of French citizens is accompanied by a note indicating that "The Glorious Archipelago is one of the five territories that make up the district of the scattered islands, characterized by a wide variety of coastal and oceanic habitats that support important biodiversity".
