IATA calls for removal of all barriers to travel

IATA calls for removal of travel restrictions

IATA calls for suppression travel restrictions

The International Air Transport Association or IATA (International Air Transport Association) released data showing growing momentum in air travel recovery. “It is time to remove health restrictions and we learn to live and travel in a world that will present risks of covid-19 for the foreseeable future” said Willie Walsh, Director General of IATA. The latter calls for the removal of travel restrictions.

Removal of travel restrictions

Madagascar, travel conditions are still very restrictive (PCR test on departure and arrival, mandatory 48-hour confinement, …)

Actually, health measures have never changed since the reopening of Madagascar's borders.

Yet, Almost all countries around the world have removed travel restrictions, especially to save the economy.

HERE IT IS continues to call for :

  • Remove all obstacles to travel (including quarantine and testing) for people fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved by the World Health Organization ;
  • Allow quarantine-free travel for unvaccinated people with a negative antigen test result before departure ;
  • Remove travel bans and accelerate the easing of travel restrictions, « recognizing that travelers do not present a greater risk of spreading covid-19 than its already presence in the general population”.

“We must now further accelerate the removal of travel restrictions. Although recent progress is impressive, the world remains far from connectivity levels of 2019. Thirteen of the top fifty travel markets still do not provide easy access to all vaccinated travelers », recalled Willie Walsh, Director General of IATA.

Let's learn to live and travel with covid-19 !

Travel restrictions have had serious impacts on people and economies. However, they did not stop the spread of the virus.. “It’s time to retire them as we learn to live and travel in a world that will pose covid-19 risks for the foreseeable future. Many governments have already recognized this and removed restrictions. Many more must follow », a conclu Willie Walsh.

People want to travel

IATA statistics show in recent weeks a sharp increase in international ticket sales in relation to 2019. This is the fastest rate of increase since the start of the health crisis.

The level of sales, compared to the same period, thus went from 38% to 49% (between the 25 January and 8 February). This jump in international ticket sales comes as more governments announce easing of travel restrictions.

Why not allow these people to travel ?

Why not allow the economy to recover ?
