History of Majunga
Majunga or Mahajanga was the capital of the sakalava Kingdom of the Boina.
Andriamisara Efadahy Kings were the last rulers before the conquest by 1 Radama ; King of Imerina, for the establishment of the Kingdom of Madagascar en 1823.
The Mahajanga name means ” Who healed”, because the tradition tells that a King who sought a remedy to cure her son toured the island, and its arrival at Monjangaia, its former name (which means city of the flowers), He declared : “MAHA, Prakash tanana ity ity”.
So the name of the city would have been created …
The history of Mahajanga begins in the eighteenth century when is created the Sakalava of the Boina dynasty.
Thanks to its privileged location on the river Betsiboka estuary, in the Bay of Bombetoka, Mahajanga soon to become a place of exchanges between Madagascar, the African coast and the Middle East. Today is the 2nd port of the country.
After the mysterious disappearance of sovereign in its 1780, Mahajanga joined the Kingdom of the King of merina Radama 1.
En 1895, the French decide to make their base of operations for the expeditionary force that would, two years later, transform Madagascar into protectorate.
Along the waterfront and the old town, the pleasant corniche, favorite walk of the inhabitants of Majunga at end of day, is punctuated by a gigantic Baobab Tree of 14 meters in circumference, Today emblem of Mahajanga, which would have more than 700 years.
The city's economy is based on maritime trade, fishing, agriculture, crafts and tourism.
For a few years, the town grew eyes with the support of politicians who want to limit the exodus on the capital.

Hello,
Sorry, I can't find anything on the subject …
I know that it holds the connection of humans with the spirits, but I don't know any more.
He must go to the University of Antananarivo I think.
Thank you and sorry for not being able to help you.
Kind regards.
