France : Simplification of the health control system

France : Simplification of the health control system

France : Simplification of the health control system

Metropolitan France does not require any covid test from vaccinated travelers from countries classified “orange” who want to travel to its territory. The reduction in the health control system has been put in place since 12 February in France.

New health rules

Since the 12 February 2022, new health rules have been applied to the borders of mainland France :

  • For vaccinated travelers :

Within the meaning of European regulations, no more tests are required at the start.

Indeed, proof of a complete vaccination schedule becomes sufficient to arrive in France, whatever the country of origin, as was the case before the spread of the Omicron variant.

  • For unvaccinated travelers :

Actually, the reduction of the health control system has lifted the obligation to present a negative test to travel to France for countries coming from the “green” list, characterized by moderate circulation of the virus.

When unvaccinated travelers come from a country on the “amber” list, they must continue to present a compelling reason justifying the need for their arrival in mainland France and may still be subject to a random test upon their arrival.

On the other hand, in accordance with Health Insurance recommendations, travelers who test positive will have to self-isolate.

Madagascar in the orange list

Now, France classifies Madagascar in the orange countries. This list brings together countries or territories experiencing active circulation of the virus., in the absence of an emerging variant of concern and without vaccine or immune escape.

Destination Madagascar

Currently, there are always flights connecting France and Madagascar.

Air France now operates the France – Madagascar route with two weekly flights every Monday and Saturday. These flights depart from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport (CDG) towards Antananarivo Ivato airport (TNR).

Actually, Madagascar Airlines operates the same route with 02 flights per week ; every sunday and tuesday.

Travel conditions to Madagascar

On the other hand, for passengers from abroad wishing to travel to Madagascar, the travel conditions are as follows :

  • Negative result of an Rt-PCR test 72 hours before boarding. One
  • Rt-PCR test on arrival (25 EUR)
  • Containment commitment letter (while waiting for the test result)
