In an exclusive interview with France 24 and RFI, President Andry Rajoelina discusses the controversial Covid-Organics.

“The problem is that it comes from Africa”

According to the Head of State, treatment has proven its worth in Madagascar, and if a European country had discovered it, there would be no “so many doubts”.

“If it was a European country that had discovered this remedy, would there be so many doubts ? I don't think so […] The problem is that it comes from Africa. And we cannot accept that a country like Madagascar, which is the 163rd poorest country in the world, put in place this formula to save the world”. (France 24)

For a little over 15 minutes, the head of state worked to defend the Tambavy CVO. He also responded to the crossfire against artemisia's remedy, which highlighted national sovereignty, it sits “nothing will stop us from moving forward, nor a country, nor an organization”.

In response to his interviewers, President Rajoelina says that the World Health Organization (WHO), including, is the recipient of his answer.

He recalls that Madagascar has a long tradition of traditional medicine and notes, Furthermore, that many drugs allowed in the West, have proven to be harmful, even murderers, like the Mediator in France.

In response to doubts about the effectiveness of his remedy, it highlights the cure rate of people with the virus in Madagascar. Out of one hundred and eighty-six confirmed cases, the Big Island has one hundred and five cases cured.

“The majority of patients with covid-19 have been cured solely through the administration of Covid-Organics”, says the President of the Republic.

By the way, they asked the exact composition of this remedy, but he didn't disclose it.

Compliance with standards

About the clinical trials that his interviewers emphasized, he argued that being an improved traditional remedy, “The validation system is different from that of a drug”. He echoed the argument of the Malagasy Institute for Applied Research (IMRA). He then speaks “clinical observation according to the guideline developed by WHO”.

About the scattered islands

Finally, Andy Rajoelina was asked about the dispute with France over the scattered islands. These are these four islands off the coast of Madagascar. He explained that the objective announced with the French President to find a solution by the end of the 26 June 2020, date of the 60th anniversary of Madagascar's independence, cannot be held due to the health crisis in Covid-19.

But it remains on the claim. "We, the sovereignty of these islands has been claimed. And we're talking about restitution."
