Corsair : Merger with Air Austral

Everything is hypothetical at the moment for Corsair. Jules Perreau, the regional director of the Indian Ocean of Corsair, has swept the news of recent months, notably the renewal of the company's fleet, but also the rapproach with the company Air Austral.

Fleet renewal

Corsair has renewed its fleet with five new A330 neo.

“This renewal will make it possible to have aircraft with an average age of less than three years.” explained Jules Perreau, the Indian Ocean regional director of Corsair.

“We resumed with the AirbusA330 neo Corsair the 30 last April. It was important not to wait too long to give travelers the benefit of our new cabins., but also to find more substantial freight... When we chartered 737, we were very limited, while the A330s bring back between 10 and 30 tons at each drop” added Jules Perreau.

Last August there was talk of a commercial cooperation project between Corsair and Air Austral. Jules Perreau confirmed that today, this project is still current.

The objective was to consolidate air transport through a “joint-venture”, and bring together several small players in order to benefit from better economies of scale and be more efficient.

“This cooperation is seen as important for us, for our businesses, but also for the territories served because it ensures a certain sustainability. For us, one of the options was therefore Air Austral, with whom we have moved forward” said Jules Perreau.
