Change in travel rules

In order to fight against epidemic circulation linked to Covid-19, France has implemented a change in travel and travel rules that have come into force since 4 December 2021.

New classification of countries

In the strategy to combat the spread of the Omicron variant, the country classification has evolved, with the addition of a country classification “scarlet red”. This classification is defined on the basis of health indicators :

New classification of countries

  • “greens” : no active circulation of the virus,
  • « orange » : active circulation of the virus in controlled proportions,
  • “red” : circulation active du virus, presence of variants of concern,
  • “scarlet red” : particularly active circulation of the virus and/or discovery of a variant likely to present a risk of increased transmissibility or immune escape.

Now, any person entering French territory must present a negative PCR or antigen test less than 24 hours or 48 hours old depending on the country of origin.

Only exception, people with a complete vaccination schedule do not have to take a test, when they arrive from a Member State of the European Union, from Andorra, from Iceland, you Liechtenstein, Monaco, from Norway, from San Marino, of the Holy See or Switzerland.

Travel between Madagascar and France

On this map, Madagascar is classified orange by France. There are always flights connecting the two countries, via Air France, and Madagascar Airlines (Air Madagascar).

The latter currently offers two flights per week, with a Boeing aircraft 787-800 of Ethiopian Airlines that the company chartered.

And, for those in Madagascar who want to go to France, they must now present a negative PCR or antigen test.
