Address by the Malagasy President at the United Nations podium

During the address of the Malagasy President at the United Nations platform, he pronounced a revolutionary and courageous speech. As announced, President Andry Rajoelina delivered a speech in front of the United Nations rostrum yesterday at 11 a.m., new york time, within the framework of the 76th General Assembly of the United Nations.

Defend African values and intelligence

As in the usual, the Head of State has distinguished himself by his courage, his patriotism and his will to put himself at the service of pan-Africanism. Before all the leaders of the member countries of the United Nations, Andry Rajoelina wanted to defend African values and intelligence. Regarding the management of the Covid-19 pandemic, he recalled that African countries have done quite well compared to other countries in the world.

Cataclysm

Faced with this tangible result, President Andry Rajoelina calls on everyone to change the negative perception and stop the prejudices tending to discredit and denigrate the leaders of developing countries.

«...» It's time for the perception to change, we must stop conveying prejudices and go beyond received ideas. Analyzes published on the Covid-19 situation, predicted a health cataclysm on the African continent. But ultimately Africa and the so-called vulnerable countries, contradicted all predictions”, He said.

New era

During this 76th UN General Assembly, President Andry Rajoelina maintains that currently, Madagascar is under construction. “We have a vision, commitments, a program and we move forward. The country is entering a new era. We see it. We feel it. A new generation of leaders with patriotic sentiment and pragmatic vision are driving change. We are no friends of skeptics. But we are moving forward with determination with partners and friendly countries who believe in the emergence of Madagascar.".

And the Scattered Islands

The President of the Republic officially demands the restitution of the Scattered Islands. He took advantage of this speech of 16 minutes at the UN rostrum to recall the existence of United Nations Resolution No. 3491 dated 12 December 1979. This is confirmed by a new resolution 35123 the 11 December 1980 which calls on France to return these islands to Madagascar.

“The cornerstones of a strong emergence are sovereignty and national unity. Among the main challenges of Madagascar on these subjects, there is the question of the Scattered Islands or Nosy Malagasy. A still painful wound in the heart of my country and my people. Commitments for the decolonization of Madagascar were made by France in 1945 in San Francisco. The return of Independence is only acquired in 1960, in other words 15 years later. A decolonization yet unfinished to this day because the problem of the Scattered Islands has still not been resolved, despite two resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly ».

Ongoing negotiations

Andry Rajoelina calls on and challenges the leaders of the United Nations to assume their responsibilities in relation to this conflict. At the same time, he mentioned the existence of ongoing negotiations with the French President. "Today, 42 years after United Nations resolutions, with my French counterpart, President Emmanuel Macron, we work together, through the holding of work within a Joint Commission between our two countries. I have good faith in a positive outcome, fair and peaceful from these works. And I invite our organization, the United Nations, to assume its role to ensure this in a benevolent and coherent way”.

He made it clear that “Madagascar has neither the power, nor weapons and even less the pretension of wanting to declare a war. We just have faith in the legitimacy of our aspirations and in our right to decide the destiny of our territory..
