Air France and Madagascar Airlines : Agreement for better connectivity
The 19 September 2024, Air France and Madagascar Airlines have signed a commercial cooperation agreement, aimed at strengthening air connectivity and providing passengers with more seamless and diverse travel options.
Cooperation agreement between Air France and Madagascar Airlines
On the sidelines of the IFTM Top Résa show, Air France and Madagascar Airlines signed a commercial cooperation agreement aimed at improving air connectivity between France and Madagascar. Starting October 1 2024, an interline marketing agreement will be put in place, allowing flights operated by both companies to be combined on a single ticket : Air France between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Antananarivo-Ivato, and Madagascar Airlines to domestic destinations like Nosy Be, Fort Dauphin, Majunga, or Tamatave. This agreement also includes the coordination of flight programs. This by allowing passengers to check their luggage until their final destination, without re-registration in Antananarivo.
This initiative represents a significant step forward for travelers. By offering them increased flexibility and simplification of reservation procedures. And while strengthening trade between these two countries.
A commitment to tourism development
To ensure faster and smoother connections, Air France and Madagascar Airlines undertake to coordinate the schedules of their flights to Antananarivo-Ivato. Air France's long-haul flights will be synchronized with those of Madagascar Airlines. Which will subsequently considerably reduce the total duration of the trip.
This partnership marks a major step in the execution of the Phoenix Plan 2030, according to Thierry de Bailleul, Managing Director of Madagascar Airlines. He emphasizes that the quality of connections with long-haul flights will be decisive in attracting tourists to the Big Island. In parallel, the two companies are studying an agreement allowing Madagascar Airlines to affix its code to Air France flights. This thereby expanding the options for passengers. Anne Rigail, General Director of Air France, expressed its satisfaction with this agreement, affirming that it strengthens ties between the two countries and contributes to the development of cultural and economic relations.
