Travel agency for sustainable tourism.
The UNWTO and the Japan International cooperation agency, partners to promote sustainable tourism.
The memorandum of cooperation signed by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Japanese international cooperation agency (JICA) will serve as a framework for activities that they will together in the field of sustainable tourism.
The agreement, initialled by the Secretary general of the UNWTO, Taleb Rifai, and by the Executive Vice President of the JICA, Kazuhiko Koshikawa, important opportunities for collaboration, knowing that the JICA is among the biggest donors to the world in international cooperation for development in tourism.
As stated in the document, the agreement is intended to contribute, Thanks to tourism, to the realization of the program of sustainable development on the horizon 2030 and sustainable development objectives. The focus is particularly on assistance to developing countries to combat poverty through tourism and on the improvement of public policies and business practices to ensure production and consumption patterns that are sustainable and accountable throughout the tourism supply chain.

The cooperation between the two organizations will also take the form of technical assistance projects in the development of policies and strategies, institutional strengthening, quality standards, development of human resources and capacity-building.
