Air : Ewa Air will connect Mayotte-Réunion

Ewa Air will link Mayotte-Réunion from December 2021. She decided to rent a 737 belonging to Air Austral to operate this line.

Ewa Air and its new fleet

Reminder, Ewa Air is a Mahoran airline, subsidiary of the group Air Austral, based in Mayotte.

For this new line, the company will rent a 737 belonging of the Reunionese company Air Austral.

A rental which also includes the pilots who will remain employees of Air Austral but will operate flights for the subsidiary Ewa Air.

Ewa Air will connect Mayotte-Réunion by offering 05 weekly flights.

Indeed, no Ewa Air pilot is authorized to fly this type of aircraft. On the other hand,, the ATRs welcome 02 PNC (Sailboat commercial employees), flights operated in 737 require 4.

The local company therefore recruited 16 Cabin Crew Members who are currently in training. It could be led to acquire new planes.

What about Air Austral for this line ?

The company Air Austral intends to keep a daily flight on the Mayotte-Réunion line. On the other hand,, it aims to operate the link with its A220 that welcomes 130 squares against 242 seats for the 747 that Ewa Air will rent.

A reduction in supply that would not be linked to competition but to a restructuring of the fleet to serve destinations with offers corresponding to needs.

Destination Madagascar

In view of the health situation, the company will not intervene before next year for Madagascar.

Also, the Malagasy government still does not authorize flights between Mayotte and the Big Island.

Brief, the company can only hope a real resumption of activity in 2022.
