Warm welcome from the Barea in Toamasina

Warm welcome from the Barea in Toamasina

Warm welcome from the Barea in Toamasina

The whole city organized itself to give a warm welcome to the Barea in Toamasina. It is even said that “The love of the Barea has taken over the fear of the virus”.

A triumphant welcome

It was this Saturday 14 November in a jubilant city, as if Barea had already qualified for the final phase of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) 2022 in Cameroon.

Never seen before with contagious jubilation since the descent of the Barea plane, in Ambalamanasy. The road leading from the airport to the Calypso hotel was packed with people.

Alefa Barea : Heroes of the Nation

A whole crowd wanted to receive the Bareas as heroes of the nation.

“I wanted to see the Barea in the flesh but also I wanted to show my full support for this fantastic team”, confides a young girl dressed from head to toe in the national colors white-red-green. Like many people who were present throughout this journey who took care to cross all the major avenues of Toamasina.

And to make it clear thatThis is a state affair, all the personalities of the city were in the procession going from the governor to the mayor but also many elected officials from all sides, proof that the Bareas are unifiers.

We also understand that after such a demonstration and patriotic enthusiasm, President Andry Rajoelina has made football one of his priorities. The organization of Tuesday's match is not contested by the population to whom the State will offer three fan zones in Toamasina alone. A city that vibrates in unison for the Bareas.

In the wake, the arrival of the Ivorians on Saturday, almost went unnoticed. For the inhabitants of Tamatave, it doesn't matter if they are Nicolas Pepe of Arsenal or Sébastien Haller of West Ham, because the main thing is to be able to beat them. And the public believes it very strongly. But he does not forget to thank President Rajoelina because football now finds its rightful place in Toamasina with a stadium meeting international standards and a synthetic cover which allows maximum use and therefore open to young shoots.

We can do better !

This Tuesday 17 November, they will face Ivory Coast again, for a return match. The match will take place from 16 hours (Madagascar time).

Following their slight defeat last Thursday, coach Nicolas Dupuis declares that we can do better.

“We had a slump after half-time. In twelve minutes, we weren't in and we conceded two goals, but we could have come back by changing the organization. We could have equalized, but we lose 2 to 1. We must do better and we can do better, but I think we gave everything with the qualities of the moment. Everyone played their part correctly. I think we had a good performance against Ivory Coast and also away from home. If we win 1 to 0 At home, It's good. Our next matches will be against Ethiopia and Niger. Our qualifications will be played in March, the matches against Ivory Coast are just a bonus”.
