A green wave of cleansing

Millions of people up to 180 countries have pledged to participate in this World Cleanup Day. A green wave of cleansing 24 hours, socially distanced and safe, spread across the planet, starting in Fiji and ending in Hawaii.

World Cleanup Day is the largest peacetime civic action against litter. It aims to raise awareness of the scale of the global waste crisis that threatens the environment and the lives of millions of people and all living beings.. We had the most recent World Cleanup Day last year in 2020. She involved 11 million people in 166 country. During its three years of existence, World Cleanup Day mobilized 50 million people over 180 country.

For a healthy and clean Earth

The problem of mismanaged waste has worsened globally due to pandemics. Organizing and holding World Cleanup Day in the midst of a pandemic is a challenge. The President of the European Commission as patron of World Cleanup Day

Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, will be the patron of this year's World Cleanup Day. “I am very proud to be the sponsor of World Cleanup Day. We need to change the way we treat our planet, be more concerned about its resources and preserve its biodiversity. Everyone can contribute », said Ursula von der Leyen.

In accordance with Covid-19 restrictions, organizations, businesses and individuals prepare to clean up their communities and natural spaces with appropriately sized, socially distanced groups or as individual cleaners.

Let’s Do It World !

World Cleanup Day is organized by Let’s Do It World, one of the largest environmental organizations in the world, headquartered in Estonia. Let's Do It World has member organizations with dedicated leaders in 164 country. The organization originated in Estonia in 2008, when 4 percent of Estonian population came out to clean the country in one day.

It is mainly the Government of the Republic of Estonia that funds the global coordination of World Cleanup Day 2021. Let's Do It World is an accredited member of the United Nations Environment Assembly (THE MOMENT) from UNEP. It is also a transmission partner of the United Nations action campaign for the SDGs.
