Today, the 02 April 2020 World Autism Awareness Day. It aims to better inform the general public about the realities of this developmental disorder.

Autism is a very present reality as this type of disability affects 1 person on 150 in the world.

For example, France has about 430 000 people with autism to varying degrees, whose 25% children.

Mobilizing actors

One of the difficulties faced by parents of children with such disorders is the diagnosis and effective management. Indeed, the medical world is still too divided today and the various stakeholders find it difficult to agree.

As such, psychomotricians send a message of support to children and families. We hope that the mobilization sought for the World Day can continue to raise awareness of as many actors as possible around this cause.

Autism Foundation

The Autism Foundation is a fund under the aegis of the Fondation de France. Its purpose is to support research on autism and pervasive developmental disorders. It also seeks further development, Implementation and dissemination of effective support, dignified and respectful of people with autism.

To do this :

– He argues, guides and disseminates research into the causes and nature of autism and possible treatment methods, scientific research as well as concrete care.

– It promotes the development of a network of institutions and structures that support people with autism, strategies within which are applied, notably behavioral, individualized care, effective, respectful and in line with the wishes of the families.

Acting and living

The Autism Foundation - Acting and Living was created under the aegis of the Fondation de France by parents who are committed to introducing in France the behavioral and developmental approaches recommended by the High Health Authority.
The Autism Foundation now wishes to focus on scientific research. On the causes and treatments of autism and its associated disorders, it supports research in immunology, toxicology and infectious diseases, conducted by well-known scientific teams. On the other hand, it funds scientific literature reviews to identify the most promising avenues.
The Autism Foundation also supports educational and behavioural support initiatives for people with autism that are in line with the recommendations of the High Health Authority.
This original approach involving families and researchers aims to transform the care, for the sake of autistic people and their families.

Understanding Autism

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disability. It affects how one person communicates and interacts with others, and more generally with its whole environment.

It is customary to talk about "Autism Spectrum Disorders" to account for the severity of disability variability, around a common core. Difficulties in social interactions, communication and often limited interests.

According to the classifications, it also refers to a family of so-called troubles "Invasive Developmental Disorders". They include autism in its various forms and related syndromes such as Rett syndrome.
